My parents, the bravest and most inspiring people I know, arrived at SFO as political refugees with their two young kids (ages 10 and 2!) and started their life over in the USA.
Cheers to you, mom and dad. Thanks for spoiling us rotten with opportunities. I hope we can show you that your incredible risk was totally worth it.

Nicky: the compromise was basically: democrats get to give money to the poor if republicans can give money to the rich
Nicky: there's 3 potential problems

Nicky: 1) we get national debt-pwned and end up suffering for it, either by having to pay it back at an inconvenient time or by losing some of our financial strength as a country
2) keeping taxes so low on the rich allows the gap between the rich and the poor to grow and destroys the middle class
3) well 3 is just that John Boehner keeps saying that you gotta keep taxes low on the rich during a recession so they invest in America and get us out of the recession
